Former SIDF CEO and investor Ibrahim Almojel talks Saudi transformation, NIDLP, VC and PE in exclusive interview with The TWENTY30

"Seeing the change that's happening in Saudi...You can't see the transformation that's happening and not want to be engaged in it."

Khwarizmi Holding founding partner and former CEO of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF) Ibrahim Almojel joins hosts Lucien and Hanaa for an exclusive interview and conversation on The TWENTY30 to discuss his pivotal role in the growth of Saudi Arabia’s industrial ecosystem as CEO of the SIDF, the launch and implementation of the NIDLP, the growth and diversification of his investment portfolio at Khwarizmi Holding, and how young Saudis are emerging as key players across Saudi Arabia’s growing economy.

During his 5 years leading SIDF, the fund size tripled to over SAR 105 billion ($28 billion) and the organization was a integral player in the launch of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) program, a major driver of Saudi Arabia’s industrial transformation. Since leaving SIDF, Almojel returned to his “other plans” - the founding of Khwarizmi Holding, a growing diversified investor in VC, PE, and real estate through various subsidiaries.

When Almojel was tapped to lead and transform the powerful Saudi Industrial Development Fund - SIDF after the launch of the Vision, he put his other plans aside. “I just had to have been part of this,” he told The TWENTY30. “You can't see the transformation that's happening in Saudi Arabia and not want to be engaged in it. We hear about great transformations in companies…but seeing a transformation at a country level, cultural, governance, economical…The whole thing is being rewritten.”

Almojel also discusses the recent rapid development of human capital and talent in Saudi Arabia as Vision 2030’s reforms progress. “This is something that you can't get enough of...So the more we invest in allowing opportunities for our younger talent to invest in themselves, and help them challenge themselves and build their network, build their expertise and skill set, the better it is."
